Bluejay Mining PLC (LON:JAY) has joined a local workforce training scheme to build a skilled labour pool for its Dundas ilmenite project in Greenland.

The scheme is organised by the Greenland School of Minerals and Petroleum and aimed at people in the Qaanaaq settlement, a village 80 km north of the project.

Bluejay added it will also take part in the Baume Construction & Mining Machinery trade fair, ahead of commercial mining commencing at Dundas.

Roderick McIllree, Bluejay’s chief executive, said: "We are delighted to be a key industry participant in the local training programme established by the Greenland School of Minerals and Petroleum.

"It is important to work with local training groups and stakeholder organisations as we implement the project.

"When mining starts it's important that the local workforce is ready with the necessary training and skills so as to be a ready and able participant in its implementation.”
