Small-Cap Snapshot: The Green Organic Dutchman to grow cannabis in its hometown; Shake Shack slips on 1Q results

Other small-caps making moves included Weight Watchers, Esports Entertainment and Zix

Leaders

The Green Organic Dutchman Holdings Ltd (TSX:TGOD) (OTCMKTS:TGODF) will start producing cannabis in its hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, as the company and the city council have finalized a settlement.

Shares rose 2.8% to close at C$4.35 in Toronto and 3.2% to US$3.25 on OTC markets.

Esports Entertainment Group Inc (OTCMKTS:GMBL), a licensed online gambling company, filed a Form S-1 registration statement Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed offering of its securities with a proposed maximum aggregate in the range of $11.5 million.

The stock powered up 6.4% to $0.45.

Weight Watchers International Inc (NASDAQ:WW) posted first-quarter results late Thursday that were strong enough to lift its full-year guidance. The company expects Oprah's 10% stake to get a bit more valuable, projecting EPS between $1.35 and $1.55, surpassing analyst expectations of $1.34.

Investors ate it up, boosting the share price 13% to $22.96.

Endologix Inc (NASDAQ:ELGX), the Irvine, California-based medical-device company, reported a narrower-than-expected first quarter loss and revenue that topped Wall Street estimates.

Shares finished nearly 3% higher at $6.50.

Zix Corporation (NASDAQ:ZIXI), an email security company, posted first-quarter results that topped expectations. Earnings came in at $0.04 per share, and revenue jumped 76% to $29.3 million. Analysts had called for EPS of $0.04 on revenue of $27.5 million.

The stock soared nearly 35% to $11.08.

Laggards

Burger chain Shake Shack Inc (NYSE:SHAK) unveiled a rise in sales in the first quarter, which beat Wall Street estimates, with new stores and growth in its digital channels boosting customers numbers."Same-Shack" sales rose 3.6%, beating analysts projected 0.8% increase.

Shares shrunk 4.3% to end the session at $60.20.

Renewable Energy Group Inc (NASDAQ:REGI) on Thursday reported a first-quarter loss of $43.4 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier. The Ames, Iowa-based company said it had adjusted losses of $1.11 per share.

Investors sent the stock more than 10% lower to $17.88.

Harvard Bioscience Inc (NASDAQ:HBIO), the medical instruments maker, reported a loss of $2.4 million in its first quarter on Thursday. The Holliston, Massachusetts company had an adjusted loss of $0.02 per share on revenue of $28.2 million.

Shares plunged nearly 22% to settle at $2.93.

Titan International Inc (NYSE:TWI), the wheel and tire supplier, reported first-quarter net income of $2 million on Friday. The Quincy, Illinois-based company had net income of $0.02 per share on revenue of $410.4 million.

The stock ended more than 15% lower at $5.75.
