About the company

Premier African Minerals Ltd is a multi-commodity mining and natural resource development company focused on Southern Africa with its RHA Tungsten and Zulu Lithium projects in Zimbabwe.

The company has a diverse portfolio of projects, which include tungsten, rare earth elements, lithium and tantalum in Zimbabwe and lithium and gold in Mozambique, encompassing brownfield projects with near-term production potential to grass-roots exploration.

How it is doing

01 Mar 2024

Premier African Minerals said the processing plant at its Zulu lithium project in Zimbabwe is now in operation with concentrates being produced from both Mica and Spodumene flotation sections.

Analysis of the concentrates is underway, it added, with several issues that need attention by the plant contractors that are affecting both quantity and quality of production.

Most important is that instrumentation related to pH measurement does not cover all plant components that need to be monitored and the reagent dosing system is unable to adjust pH to design specifications.

Premier African said the plant contractor will need to remedy this forthwith.

Premier African Minerals said it is now fully funded to first production at the Zulu lithium project in Zimbabwe after a subscription at 0.275p to raise £2.475 million.

In addition, Premier African said that the new ball mill at the site is installed and going through a test run with commercial production to begin later this month and a first shipment scheduled for March.

Premier African Minerals Ltd (AIM:PREM, OTC:PRMMF) has updated the mineral resource estimate (MRE) for its Zulu lithium project in Zimbabwe, which it now says contains around 107,000 tonnes of the metal in the inferred and indicated categories.

In addition, there are over a thousand tonnes of tantalum (pentoxide) at Zulu, said Premier African.

Insight: Mining 101: All you need to know about recoveries

06 Nov 2023

The term 'recovery' in process metallurgy is pivotal, signifying the proportion of valuable material obtained during the processing of an ore. It represents the efficiency of the extraction process and is an essential factor in determining the viability and profitability of a mining operation.

Mining is not just about extracting ore from the earth; the crux lies in the ability to recover the valuable minerals contained within the ore body. Recovery rates directly influence a project's economic outcomes and are thus a focal point in metallurgical processes.

What the brokers say

24 Jan 2024

Premier African Minerals Ltd (AIM:PREM, OTC:PRMMF) should publish a new mineral resource for its Zulu Lithium project shortly, says house broker Shore Capital.

Focus of the update will be tonnes of contained spodumene in the Main Zone area, with completion expected by the end of the current quarter.

Extensive X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) has provided detailed information on crystallography and chemical composition revealing that more than 85% of lithium mineralisation is associated with spodumene and the remaining 15% with lepidolite.‌
