Fund manager Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) saw assets under management recover in its latest quarter ahead of what is expected to be a bumpy AGM today.
US corporate governance firm Glass Lewis has urged shareholders to vote against the appointment of Leonie Schroder as a director and also against the re-election of chairman Michael Dobson.
Leonie Schroder is the daughter of former director Bruno Schroder, who died in February, and Glass Lewis questions whether she has the requisite financial experience to sit on the fund manager’s board.
Glass Lewis also said it had severe reservations over the bonuses paid to senior management.
Peter Harrison, chief executive, received £6mln last year and Glass Lewis said it was concerned the bonus plan has led to ‘unnecessarily high payouts’.
ISS, another leading institutional adviser, has also criticised Schroders’ bonus structure.
Schroders was set up in 1804 by JH Schroder and the family still owns 48% of the business.
Funds under management at the end of March were £428bn, up from £407bn at end 2018.
