Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited (LON:SONG) has snapped up a music catalogue from Starrah – the writer behind dozens of recent chart toppers.
Starrah – real name Brittany Hazzard – has written hit songs for artists such as Drake, Calvin Harris and Maroon 5.

The catalogue acquired by Hipgnosis includes 14 top 20 tracks, such as Rihanna’s ‘Needed Me’ and Drake’s ‘Fake Love’, which the company will now receive royalties from.
“Starrah is at the forefront of today's song writing revolution,” said Hipgnosis founder Merck Mercuriadis.
“She is taking pop artistry to new heights of success, as evidenced by the exquisite 'Havana' which is already an evergreen hit and 'Girls Like You' the longest charting Number 1 radio song of the century.”
Starrah, who is to take a seat on Hipgnosis’ advisory board, added: “The songwriter community is often overlooked and undervalued so I am thrilled to do this prestigious deal with Merck that sets a new precedent for songwriters and producers.”
