Kopane Diamonds appoints new CEO and Mine Manager

Kopane Diamond Developments, the diamond explorer and producer operating the Liqhobong Diamond Mine in Lesotho in Southern Africa, announced the appointment of a new CEO and additionally a new mine manager.

Michael Wittet, previously a non-executive director, will step up to fill the role of CEO. Mr. Witter brings over 35 years of experience in the diamond industry, having previously held senior executive positions with DeBeers and Anglo American, including deputy managing director of Debswana.

In addition to the new CEO, Kopane also announced the appointment of Daniel Smit as General Manager of the Liqhobong Mine. Mr. Smit also previously worked for DeBeers and was also General Manager of the Williamson Mine in Tanzania.

Tim Read, Chairman of the Company, today commented:

"Mike Wittet has been working closely with the company since his appointment to the Board earlier this year. His move to the full time role as CEO brings significant experience in the diamond mining industry specifically within Africa. Mike and Daniel's wealth of operational experience at both large and small diamond mines will be invaluable in the implementation of the Main Pipe Project once we have completed the resource delineation and the Definitive Feasibility Study, allowing Kopane to attain its long term goals."
