Great Bear Resources Ltd (CVE:GBR) (OTCMKTS:GTBDF) is celebrating after the company was awarded the Bernie Schnieders Discovery of the Year Award for its discovery of high-grade gold zones in Red Lake, Ontario.
The award was bestowed by the Northwestern Ontario Prospectors Association (NWOPA) and presented on April 2 at its annual banquet during the 2019 Ontario Prospectors Exploration Showcase in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It recognizes an exceptional discovery made in northwestern Ontario during the previous calendar year.

"We would like to sincerely thank the NWOPA for receiving this honour, and look forward to expanding on our exciting discoveries at the Dixie property through 2019 and 2020,” said Chris Taylor, president and CEO of Great Bear.
The junior explorer also noted that it had been fortunate to receive strong industry support for its exploration work over recent years, including a C$100,00 exploration grant as part of the Ontario Prospector Association's Junior Exploration Assistance Program, which contributed to the discovery.
Great Bear acquired the Dixie project in the prolific Red Lake district of Ontario in 2018 and quickly announced a new gold discovery on the property. Drilling revealed the most significant gold grades to date at the project, with 1.75 metres of over 101 grams per ton gold.
Shares of Great Bear were trading at C$3.26 in Canada and US$2.43 in the US on Monday’s close.
