i3 Energy plc (LON:I3E) told investors it has secured a drill rig for its summer drill programme, which sets the Liberator field development in motion.
The company said in a statement that it had hired the Borgland Dolphin semi-submersible drilling rig for the programme, with drilling due to start between 15 July and 15 August.
"The i3 team is excited to be working with Dolphin Drilling and to be using the Borgland Dolphin rig to conduct what we expect to be a transformational drilling campaign this summer,” said Majid Shafiq, I3E chief executive.

“We continue to progress all key deliverables to bring Liberator to first oil and expect to provide updates on funding and finalization of offtake terms in due course."
Drilling three planned wells the company’s programme is expected to unlock the Liberator asset base.
It will see the drilling of the A3 appraisal well in Liberator’s western extension area, the programme will also include the L2 pilot well as part of the Liberator Phase 1 development and, thirdly, the S1 appraisal well will assess the Serenity prospect.
