Hawkstone Mining Ltd (ASX:HWK) has received positive results from a phase II drilling program that has confirmed wide high-grade lithium at its Big Sandy Lithium-Clay Project in Arizona, USA.
Results have been received from the first three holes of the planned 37-hole diamond drill program designed to test the continuity and lateral extent of mineralisation.
The program aims to enable the estimation of a JORC-compliant resource over the northern mineralised zone.
Drilling is using HQ diamond drilling equipment, producing a core diameter of 63.5 millimetres with the previous drilling program completed using BQ drilling equipment at 36.5 millimetres.
A bottom cut of 1,000ppm lithium was used in the calculation of the zones labelled upper and lower and a bottom cut of 2,000ppm lithium was used in the calculation of the higher grade intervals.
Next steps
The company is advancing its phase II drilling program with six drill holes completed and assays sent to the laboratory.
Hawkstone expects a stream of results over the coming months as it builds momentum towards its targeted maiden JORC resource for the Big Sandy project.
