Serco wins contract with the US Air Force

The US Air Force's NexGen IT programme supports the Air Force Civil Engineering community in its work to improve efficiency and effectiveness

Serco Group PLC (LON:SRP), the controversial outsourcing company, has been awarded a new task order by the US Air Force.

The contract is to manage, configure, deploy, sustain, and enhance NexGen information technology (IT) solutions for US Air Force Civil Engineering (AFCE).

The task order has a one-year base period with four option years and a six-month extension of service option. If all extension options are exercised, the task order should generate US$82mln of revenues, which is equivalent to about £63mln).

"The award builds on Serco's extensive experience using TRIRIGA to deliver workforce and asset life-cycle management solutions to numerous US Federal Government and other customers,” said Rupert Soames, the chief executive officer of Serco.

TRIRIGA is an integrated workplace management system developed by IBM.

Shares in Serco edged up 0.4p to 130.9p on the news.
