S&P/ASX 200 (INDEXASX:XJO) has now improved for three straight sessions to end the day 40 points or 0.65% higher at 6176.
Major miners gained with BHP Group (ASX:BHP) up 0.9%, Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) up 1.2% and lithium miner Pilbara Minerals (ASX:PLS) rising 15% after achieving commercial production.
Argosy Minerals (ASX:AGY) surged 65% to 16 cents after executing a sales agreement with a Mitsubishi Corporation subsidiary for the supply of lithium carbonate from the Rincon Lithium Project in Argentina.

The agreement will enable Argosy to utilise a stage I industrial-scale pilot plant for small-scale commercial lithium carbonate production and product sales to a major international conglomerate.
Materials, energy and financials tread higher
Materials, energy and financials were the biggest contributors to advances on the ASX.
Oil and gas producers managed to climb despite a near 1% fall in oil prices overnight with Woodside Petroleum (ASX:WPL) rising 1.3% and Origin Energy (ASX:ORG) gaining 2.1%.
Financials also contributed to gains led by Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) with a 1.8% increase.
