Golden Rim Resources engages Capital Drilling at Kouri Gold Project

Mobilisation of a multi-purpose drilling rig from Mauritania to Burkina Faso is underway with drilling expected to begin in mid-April.

Golden Rim Resources Ltd (ASX:GMR) has executed a drilling contract for 17,000 metres of reverse circulation drilling and 4,000 metres of diamond drilling at the Kouri Gold Project in Burkina Faso.

The contract has been executed with Capital Drilling, which participated in the company’s recent share placement and is expected to be Golden Rim’s largest shareholder.

Golden Rim managing director Craig Mackay said with the start of mobilisation of the multi-purpose drill rig to Kouri from Mauritania, the company was now on the verge of what would be a very substantial drilling program.

“Trenching has allowed us to confirm the orientation of the gold mineralisation along the Footwall Shear and at Red Hill to ensure that we undertake the program in the most effective manner.

“In addition, newly obtained high-resolution satellite imagery indicates that we may have more than 500 metres of additional strike to the gold lobes that comprise the 1.4-million-ounce mineral resource into the Goueli and Margou permits.

“We intend to test these as a priority once we have completed the acquisition of the permits.”

The emerging West African gold developer is initially targeting three areas:

  • Footwall Shear to follow up recent high-grade intersections including 4 metres at 44.7 g/t gold;
  • Strike extent of the gold lodes that comprise the 1.4-million-ounce mineral resource in the Goueli and Margou permits; and
  • Red Hill gold discovery.
