ITM Power PLC (LON:ITM) has confirmed that Toyota Australia is its first customer in the antipodean country, with the group purchasing a 0.25 megawatt (MW) rapid-response PEM (polymer electrolyte membrane) electrolyser from the company.
The AIM-listed energy storage and clean fuel company said this is one of the first four sales in Australia it announced on 14 January, adding that further details of the other three sales will be released in due course.

The group said the electrolyser will generate hydrogen on-site at Toyota's facilities in Altona, Melbourne using renewable energy to split water, with the hydrogen to be utilised for refuelling Toyota's fuel cell electric vehicles including the Toyota Mirai.
This is the firm deal in Australia since the company unveiled the formation of ITM Power Pty Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary incorporated in the country with a membership of Hydrogen Mobility Australia on 28 December 2017.
ITM Power’s CEO, Dr Graham Cooley commented: "Australia is an important new market for ITM Power and we are working hard to build strong commercial relationships with our partners.”
