Gem Diamonds sells pink diamond from its Letšeng mine for record US$8.75mln

The per carat price of the pink diamond, which was recovered last month, was US$657,000 – a record for a stone found at Gem’s Letšeng mine in Lesotho

Gem Diamonds Limited (LON:GEMD) has sold a pink diamond from its Letšeng mine in Lesotho for US$8.75mln.

The per carat price of US$657,000 is a record for a Letšeng diamond.

The pink diamond was found last month and was sold in Antwerp, Belgium – the world’s largest diamond district.

Shares edged 0.3% higher to 89.6p on Thursday morning.
