Rockfire Resources PLC (LON:ROCK) has started exploration at the Copper Dome prospect in Queensland.

The exploration firm, which has an option to acquire 100% of the prospect, said soil and rock sampling, as well as structural and geological mapping, were being undertaken by field crews at the site.

Rockfire said the prospect was “vastly under-explored” and that mineralisation outcrops at the surface would provide “lower anticipated exploration costs” due to their cheaper near-surface exploration potential.

The company added that the results from the field program would help its decision-making around whether to acquire the prospect.

In mid-morning trading, Rockfire shares were steady at 0.8p.
