Navarre Minerals Limited (ASX:NML) has discovered two deeper zones of gold mineralisation beneath a previously identified shallow gold zone at the Tomorrow prospect within its Tandarra Gold Project north of Bendigo, Victoria.
The mineral exploration company, along with joint venture partner Catalyst Metals Ltd (ASX:CYL), recorded the results in diamond drill hole DDTO018, following the signing of the Tandarra joint venture agreement in December last year.
The 2018 diamond drilling program was completed in June 2018 with a total of 12 holes at 3,493 metres with final results interpreted in February.
Assay results
Bulk leach assays from the hole demonstrated two deeper zones of gold mineralisation beneath the shallow gold mineralisation at the Tomorrow prospect, including:
16 metres at 1.83 g/t gold from 148 metres in DDT018;
3 metres at 0.8 g/t from 267 metres; and
2 metres at 17.4 g/t, including 1 metre at 32.2 g/t from 332 metres.
The upper zone reflects a new structural position not previously seen at the Tomorrow prospect, whereas the deeper zone may correlate with the broad zone of gold mineralisation seen in diamond hole DDT015 around 200 metres to the north.
Gold zones similar to Fosterville
DDT018 contains extensive quartz veining, sulphides and alteration, confirming the repetition or “stacking” of shallow plunging gold zones similar to those observed at both Fosterville and the Bendigo Goldfield which produced 22 million ounces of gold at an average of 15 g/t.
The project is within the Whitelaw Fault Corridor, which is considered to be a major structural control of gold mineralistation north of Bendigo.
Catalyst Metals manages the entire Whitelaw Gold Belt and has interests in other potential gold belts to the north of Fosterville and Inglewood goldfields.
Future drilling
The joint venture agreement has outlined a program to advance the project for the period ending September 30, 2019.
This will involve a program of up to 15,000 metres comprising a combination of aircore (AC) and reverse circulation (RC) drilling.
Diamond drilling will be contingent on results from shallower RC and AC drilling with drilling to begin next month.
