MIDDAY MOVERS: Kandi Technologies shares rise on green light to sell EVs in US; Tesla slumps after losing its top lawyer

Also in the frame are Garmin Ltd, and health care groups Bausch Health Cos Inc and CVS Health Corp

Kandi Technologies Group Inc (NASDAQ:KNDI) saw its shares surge 41% to $8.38 on the Nasdaq Wednesday after US regulators gave a green light to import the Chinese electric-car maker's models EX3 and K22 into the States, according to published reports. Meanwhile, shares of Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) hit the brakes, falling about 1% to $301.31, after announcing the departure of general counsel Dane Butswinkas after just two months with the electric-vehicle maker.

Garmin Ltd (NASDAQ:GRMN), the GPS maker, saw shares rocket after it posted quarterly results that breezed past Wall Street forecasts. Not including items, the maker of navigation systems earned $1.02 per share, beating the consensus estimate of $0.80 a share. The company forecast full-year revenue of about $3.5 billion compared with analyst projections of $3.43 billion, on average.

The stock jumped more than 16.5% to $82.67.

CVS Health Corp (NYSE:CVS) shares tumbled as the Rhode Island-based pharmacy operator posted mixed results for the fourth quarter. Adjusted earnings per share for the three months came in at $2.14 compared with the $2.05 expected by analysts. Meanwhile, revenue came in at $54.42 billion, compared with the $54.58 billion expected by analysts. For the full year 2019, CVS forecast adjusted earnings between $6.68 and $6.88 per share, which is below the $7.41 per share analysts had expected.

The stock lost nearly 7% to $65.11.

Bausch Health Cos Inc (NYSE:BHC) saw shares tick lower even as the maker of eye-care products posted a 4Q beat. Revenue for the three months fell to $2.121 billion from $2.163 billion, which beat consensus of $2.08 billion. But the Candian company swung to a loss of $344 million in the period, down from a profit of $513 million a year earlier.

The stock tumbled 8.7% to $23.

Southwest Airlines Co (NYSE:LUV) shares flew lower after Goldman Sachs analysts downgraded the stock to a Sell from Neutral. The airline carrier also downgraded expectations for first-quarter revenue on the back of softer passenger demand and the government shutdown. It now expects the negative impact on the figure to be around $60 million compared to an original forecast of between $10 million and $15 million.

The shares fell 5.2% to $54.67.
