Prodigy Gold NL (ASX:PRX) has defined 63 airborne electromagnetic targets and a second nickel-copper prospect in recent exploration at the Lake Mackay joint venture in the Northern Territory.
Managed by Independence Group NL (ASX:IGO), the survey flew a total of 14,951 line-kilometres and identified 19 priority one targets, 35 priority two targets and nine priority three targets.
63 conductors defined
Prodigy Gold managing director Matt Briggs said: “The 14,951 line-kilometre EM survey at Mackay was completed in January with interpretation defining 63 conductors that require further investigation.
“An RC drilling program of 9,600 metres is planned to begin early in quarter two 2019, with previous drilling at the Grapple prospect demonstrating similar EM conductors associating with high-grade gold and base metal mineralisation.”
“The airborne survey has taken over six months to be completed and I am excited to see the imminent commencement of drilling of these targets – the drilling will rapidly screen the conductors for the presence of large-scale gold and base metal mineralisation.
New nickel-copper target
“Many of the conductors have already had soil sampling and ground moving loop electromagnetic surveys (MLEM) completed in preparation for drilling – and our intention is to drill targets confirmed by MLEM.
“Additionally, lag sampling at the Swoop prospect has defined a new nickel-copper target with a rock chip sample from outcropping duricrust at Swoop returning 2% copper, 1% nickel and 11.2% manganese.”
Eight grids produced responses associated with conductive massive sulphide mineralisation and included five priority one targets, which are are now prioritised for drilling.
The MLEM will recommence in March and is planned to test all priority one targets.
Remaining work includes:
Soil and lag sampling to rank and prioritise RC drilling;
Ground geophysics to priorities targets generated from the airborne EM survey; and
RC drilling with 9,600 metres plants to test moving loop EM conductors and soil geochemical anomalies.
