WANdisco shares soar following rights issue and enhanced Amazon status

The Advanced Technology Partner designation said to be the highest tier for technology partners that provide software and internet solutions in the AWS Partner Network

WANdisco PLC (LON:WAND) saw its shares soar 22% to 612p in afternoon trading after it announced it had raised $17.5mln from existing shareholders at a premium.

Investors also toasted the company’s receipt of Advanced Technology Partner status with Amazon Web Services in the AWS Partner Network.

In a statement, the provider of global collaboration software said: “The Advanced Technology Partner designation is the highest tier for technology partners that provide software and internet solutions in the AWS Partner Network.

WANdisco achieved its status through a rigorous qualification process, based on referenceable customers on the AWS Platform and strict technical guidelines.”

David Richards, chief executive and interim chairman of WANdisco, commented: “Our new accreditation with AWS represents a major advancement in our relationship.

“We recently launched LiveData for MultiCloud and won our first contract. We worked directly with AWS on that subscription contract where Fusion was deployed to enable continuous replication of data across multiple Amazon cloud environments and locations.

“This new status strengthens our relationship and significantly expands our sales channel opportunities.”

WANdisco said it also won contracts across other end-markets and partners, including through Microsoft and IBM.

The AIM-listed firm raised the money at a 546p per share, a premium of 9% on the closing share price yesterday.

The issue amounted to 5.85% of the share capital with big institutions Merrill Lynch, Ross Creek and Global Frontier taking part and agreeing to a twelve-month lock-in period.

Richards said: "The US$17.5mln placing announced today is an excellent example of the group's momentum, providing us with additional funding to leverage a number of significant opportunities to expand our existing partner relationships."
