AREV Brands International Ltd (CSE:AREV) announced Tuesday it has appointed finance executive Leo Ford to its board of directors and audit committee.
Ford has extensive experience in international banking, significant experience in the cannabis sector and has held executive positions with two of the largest financial institutions in the world.
"I am confident in Leo's capabilities to leverage his international network of investors and high ranking officials for AREV and our foreign objectives," said CEO Mike Withrow in a statement. "Leo is respected by his peers and we are fortunate to have him on the board."
The company said Ford has funded businesses that have grown from $2 million to $200 million in revenue, as well as a broad network of high-ranking officials in Africa, Caribbean, Latin America and Europe.
Ford's cannabis sector experience is also significant, having entered negotiations with various countries in the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America and Africa for cannabis/CBD related industries. Additionally, he has conducted due diligence and advised on a hemp business involving the State of Colorado, private universities and the Ministry of Agriculture in Brazil.
The company also said that it has issued 100,000 stock options to directors, officers and consultants of the company at a price of C$0.24 for a period of five years, which will vest immediately.
AREV shares were up at C$0.24 on Tuesday.
