The agreement - covering the Baltic states - is one of a series of agreements tied up by the AIM-listed company

Biolat plans to use Optibiotix’s Lactobacillus plantarum strain in capsule-based food products.

“We decided to partner up with Biolat for their experience in the field of natural products manufacturing and distribution and their knowledge of this geographic area,” said chief executive Stephen O’Hara.

“They also have an outstanding track record of successful product launches leading to long-term revenue generation and growth."

The Baltic tie-up is one of a series of commercial agreements tied up by the AIM-listed company. Last month it found a partner for its LPLDL product with a network covering Russia and Kazakhstan.

OptiBiotix’s has developed products for cholesterol and weight loss that target the human microbiome – the complex system of bacteria that exists in the gut that is also thought to have an impact on health.
