BIO-key says a 2nd defense contractor deploying fingerprint reader sign-in for Windows

The customer is facing a mandate for robust authentication to protect confidentiality, according to BIO-key

BIO-key International Inc (NASDAQ:BKYI) rallied Wednesday after announcing that a global aerospace defense contractor is using its fingerprint reader sign-in for Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows 10.

The biometric authentication company said in a statement that the customer is the second major defense contractor to deploy BIO-key’s fingerprint technology since introduction of a mandate for robust authentication to protect the confidentiality of controlled, unclassified information.

Shares of BIO-key surged 23% to $1.39 in Wednesday’s Nasdaq trading.

Windows Hello for Business, according to BIO-key, enhances security with a simplified biometric log-on.

The aerospace customer selected EcoID, an enterprise-level compact fingerprint scanner, and purchased SidePass, which connects directly to the USB port on laptops and tablets, according to BIO-key.

Both EcoID and SidePass have been tested and qualified by Microsoft to bear the Windows Hello label, according to New Jersey-based BIO-key.
