Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) crushed expectations late Wednesday, handily beating consensus estimates for both earnings and revenue while continue to add monthly active users (MAU). The social network booked earnings of $2.38 per share on revenue of $16.91 billion in the fourth quarter, compared with calls for EPS of $2.17 on $16.41 billion. MAU rose 9%, to 2,3 billion, from a year ago.
Investors unplugged from Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) after earnings missed fourth-quarter estimates by $0.20 per share. The electric-vehicle maker also said it expects "very small" gains in GAAP net income in the current quarter. Adjusted earnings of $2 per share fell short of analysts' expectation of $2.20.
General Dynamics Corp (NYSE:GD) fell after giving on a conference call disappointing guidance for 2019 after rising following its posting of earnings and revenue that beat expectations. The defense contractor said fourth-quarter diluted earnings per share climbed 46% to $3.07, beating the $2.99 average forecast of analysts.
The shares decreased 2.9% to $170.91.
Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN) declined after projecting 2019 earnings per share that missed the estimates of analysts. The biotech company expects non-GAAP earnings per share of $13.10 to $14.30, compared with the average estimate of $14.62.
The stock dropped 3.8% to $184.86.
Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) increased after beating analysts’ estimates on earnings and reporting a record $101 billion in annual revenue. The jet maker posted record core quarterly earnings per share of $5.48, compared with the average estimate of $4.58.
The stock climbed 6.3% to $387.72.
Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA) saw shares nudge higher in New York after the online retail giant unveiled stronger-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings after a record Singles Day shopping event. Singles Day takes place each year on November 11 and netted more than $30 billion in sales within 24 hours, a 27% increase from 2017.
The stock added 6.3% to $166.82.
Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) shares surged after the California-based chip company reported earnings that were in line with expectations but missed on revenue. It brought in $1.42 billion, compared with the $1.44 billion analysts on Wall Street had expected. It posted weak revenue guidance for its first quarter, namely $1.25 billion, versus an estimated $1.47 billion.
The stock rose 20% to $23.09.
Juniper Networks Inc (NYSE:JNPR) shares declined as it issued mixed fourth-quarter financials and warned over its first-quarter results. The tech group said revenue for the three months will be around $980 million, plus or minus $30 million, with earnings about $0.20 per share, give or take 3 cents. But analysts had penciled in earnings of $0.37 per share on revenue of $1.11 billion.
The shares slid 7.6% to $25.83.
Mellanox Technologies Ltd (NASDAQ:MLNX), the Israeli-based computer group, saw shares rise on Wednesday after reports that Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC) has offered between $5 million and $6 million to buy the company in a cash and paper deal. The bid represents reportedly a 30% premium on Mellanox’s closing price on Nasdaq Tuesday.
Mellanox shares surged rose 7.2% to $87.54.
