Skyfii enters 5-year contract to deploy IO platform, posts strong quarterly growth

The company expects to deliver continued revenue growth in 2019 while making further investments into its operating model.

Skyfii Ltd (ASX:SKF) will deploy its software-as-a-service (SaaS) recurring revenue IO Platform to the City of Fairborn and University of Dayton in the US state of Ohio on a five-year initial contract.

The contract is being delivered in partnership with North American Skyfii reseller Cincinnati Bell, an integrated communications solutions provider.

Skyfii chief executive officer Wayne Arthur said: “Having previously deployed services for Smart City initiatives in partnership with Cincinnati Bell, it is extremely pleasing to carry the success of the project to a neighbouring city and university arena.

“Our data analytics and marketing services, integrated with Cincinnati Bell’s wi-fi services, will provide a local area marketing and communication platform for events, advertising and business to promote their goods and services.”

IO Platform a ‘critical insights tool’

Cincinnati Bell is providing high-speed wi-fi connectivity to Fairborn’s business district and the University of Dayton.

The deployment of Skyfii’s guest wi-fi and marketing services through its IO Platform will provide a critical insights tool for city and campus managers, as well as businesses.

Cincinnati Bell and Skyfii have partnered on similar projects in the cities of Cincinnati and Covington in Kentucky.

Successive growth quarters

In its quarterly results posted yesterday, Skyfii recorded total operating revenues for the December quarter of $2.4 million, up 7% on the prior quarter.

This represents a strong continuation of successive growth quarters and a 34% increase when compared to the second quarter of financial year 2018.

In addition to the strong revenues, Skyfii delivered a $290,000 profit at an EBITDA level.

Growing user base

Skyfii’s total registered user base was up 13.1% on the previous quarter, or up 82% on the second quarter of financial year 2018, reaching 23.9 million unique registered users.

Key new contracts signed include Habib’s restaurant chain (with 360 venues in Brazil) and ISPT (with 32 shopping centres and commercial office towers in Australia).

The company’s cash balance at the end of December was $1.44 million, up from $1.1 million at the end of the previous quarter.
