Westgold Resources Ltd (ASX:WGX) has intersected high-grade gold in drilling at the Starlight and Trev’s lode systems within its Fortnum Gold Project in WA.
In December last year the company announced that its most northerly down-plunge hole in the Starlight lode system returned an intercept of 78.26 metres at 5.23 g/t gold in hole WGU0089.
Northernmost down-plunge position
The hole was the first to test the northernmost down-plunge position of the Starlight ore system after it had completed mine rehabilitation.
The company has received results from follow-up holes around this intercept which have all returned wide zones of high-grade gold.
Best results following the intercept in WGU0089 include 85.6 metres at 9.4 g/t from 123 metres and 27.2 metres at 4.34 g/t from 123 metres.
Other key results include:
74.15 metres at 1.95 g/t from 161.5 metres at the underground hole WGU0087 which intersected the lodes down-plunge of WGU00889
75.23 meters at 4.24 g/t from 96.35 metres at the underground hole WGU0090
4.3 metres at 2 g/t from 72 metres and 6.5 metres at 7.49 g/t from 127 metres which intersected WGU0090 at around 30 metres along strike up-plunge
First diamond drill results
As well as the follow-up drill holes the company received the first results from diamond drill testing at Trev’s lode, sitting around 100 metres into the hanging wall.
Best intercepts include 9.8 metres at 44.9 g/t from 89 metres in hole WGR00132 and 10.1 metres at 13.35 g/t from 77 metres in hole WGR00134.
Plans to expand overall system
The results are a sign of the immediate potential to expand the overall ore system which is hugely positive for the Fortnum Gold Project.
The program is ongoing with more results expected in Westgold’s quarterly report for the period ending December 31, 2018.
