Spectris PLC (LON:SXS) has appointed the former finance boss of rival engineering group Senior PLC (LON:SNR) as its new chief financial officer.
Derek Harding, who headed up Senior’s finance team between 2013 and 2017, will join Spectris from Shop Direct at the beginning of March.

He is replacing long-term CFO Clive Watson who is retiring from his position, and the pair will work together throughout March before Harding takes the reins by himself on 1 April.
“I am delighted that Derek is joining Spectris,” said chairman Mark Williamson.
“He has broad experience in the industrial and technology sectors, as well as across a number of financial disciplines. He also brings significant experience in driving change and implementing strategy.”
Williamson added: “I would like to express my thanks to Clive who has had a very successful 12 years as group finance director. The board and I are grateful for his dedication and impact and wish him well in his retirement.”
Spectris shares rose 2.1% to 2,433p in early deals on Tuesday.
