Strike Energy grows gas production at Cooper basin Jaws-1 appraisal wells

Gas production is growing as further coal enters the critical desorption window.

Strike Energy Ltd (ASX:STX) is continuing to grow gas production on trend at the Jaws-1 appraisal wells within its Southern Cooper Basin Gas Project.

Bands of daily production are narrowing while overall increasing as greater continuous flows are achieved.

These flows are indicative of matrix desorption now occurring which Strike expects to propagate throughout the depressurised area of the reservoir.

Material gas production growth

South Australia-based Strike is managing the reservoir drawdown carefully to ensure the maximum volume of coal remains in communication with the well and enters the desorption window.

Water production remains stable which indicates that continued fluid recovery will yield material gas production growth.

Pump speed has been kept flat throughout this period with bottom-hole pressures only reducing a few pounds per square inch a day.

Substantial permit position

Strike has a substantial permit position across the Cooper basin with more than 9,200 square kilometres of ground across five permits.

The gas project is targeting the gas potential of a series of very thick coals across a large portion of the permits.
