Vast Resources notes reports it will be allowed to explore for diamonds in Zimbabwe but says no official notification received

Vast Resources PLC (LON:VAST) on Friday noted reports in the press that Zimbabwe’s Minister of Mines has stated that the AIM-listed group will be allowed to explore for diamonds in the African country but said it wishes to make it clear that it has received no official notification of this position.

The AIM-listed mining company, with operating mines in Romania as well as Zimbabwe, said it will update the market as soon as it receives official notification.

In late afternoon trading, Vast Resources shares were 2.4% lower at 0.40p.

At the end of November, reported a solid third quarter for its Pickstone-Peerless gold mine in Zimbabwe with tonnes mined and milled beating the record achieved in the last three-month period.

The mine delivered a 3% increase in tonnes of ore mined to 104,156 in the three months to September 30 from 100,855 in the second quarter.
