Base Resources granted prospecting licence for Vanga area in Kenya, extending from existing Kwale operation

The group said the Vanga license is valid for three years and covers an area of 136 square kilometres, extending south-west from the Kwale Operation towards the Tanzanian border

Base Resources Limited (LON:BSE) (ASX:BSE) announced that it has been granted a prospecting licence (PL) for the Vanga area in Kenya.

The AIM-listed group said the Vanga licence is valid for three years and covers an area of 136 square kilometres, extending south-west from the company’s existing Kwale operation towards the Tanzanian border.

It added that the licence was applied for following an airborne geophysical and radiometric survey that identified a series of promising exploration targets.

Tim Carstens, managing director of Base Resources commented: “In the context of the current pursuit of mine life extension at Kwale Operations, the granting of the Vanga PL is a positive and important step.”

He added: “Preparatory activities, ahead of a planned drilling program in 2019, are underway.”

In early morning trading, Base Resources shares were 1.7% higher at 14.75p.
