Directa Plus inks supply contract for Grafysorber oil adsorption barriers

The group said the €200,000 contract was for the supply of a Grafysorber mobile production unit and a set of G+ oil adsorption barriers for use in offshore emergency situations

Directa Plus PLC (LON:DCTA) has inked a supply contract to provide its Grafysorber technology and oil adsorption barriers to GSP Group, a Romanian oil & gas services firm.

The group, which develops and supplies a range of graphene-based products, said the €200,000 contract was for the supply of a Grafysorber mobile production unit and a set of G+ oil adsorption barriers for use in offshore emergency situations to clean water in harbours and ports.

The sale followed an evaluation by GSP of Grafysorber’s uses in removing various hydrocarbons from contaminated water that can then be recovered and recycled.

A deal for the firm's G+ and Grafysorber products was previously signed in October with Arvind, one of India’s largest textile groups, to develop composite materials and water treatment services.

Directa added that it had also been invited by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to participate in a Tier 2 oil spill response exercise in the country from 17 to 19 of December.

PDO is 60% owned by the Omani government and is responsible for around 94% of the country’s general oil production.

Giulio Cesareo, founder and chief executive of Directa, said the commercial contract marked a “significant shift from successful completion of industrial tests to commercial activity offshore with GSP”.

He added that the company’s participation in the Oman exercise “could lead to further agreements with oil and gas players as we roll out our environmental services to the industry”.
