Small-Cap Snapshot: Fast food chain Jack in the Box tops sales estimates in its fourth quarter

Shares of food distributor SpartanNash were on the rise following its acquisition of Martin’s Super Markets

Jack in the Box Inc (NASDAQ:JACK) shares popped following a boost in sales in its fourth-quarter results. The fast-food chain reported sales of $177.5 million, ahead of consensus estimates of $174 million. Its yearly results amounted to $4.21 per share on revenue of $869.7 million. The chain was founded back in 1951 and operates around 2,245 restaurants in the western and southern US.

Shares of Jack in the Box jumped 3.5% to $83 in Tuesday afternoon trading.

SpartanNash Company (NASDAQ:SPTN) shares climbed following its latest acquisition. The food distribution company reached an agreement to acquire Midwest supermarket chain Martin’s Super Markets Inc. SpartanNash caters to both retail and military segments. Its private brand portfolio includes Top Care, Tippy Toes, Freedom’s Choice and Valu Time.

Shares of SpartanNash were up more than 7% to $19.30.

NantHealth Inc (NASDAQ:NH) was one of the top small-cap decliners as it struggled to recover from its disappointing third-quarter results. The healthcare company reported a net loss of $0.10 per share on revenue of $22.3 million. Its software-as-a-service revenue increased 5% to $15.9 million. The California-based company develops a range of personalized healthcare solutions.

Shares of NantHealth fell more than 9% to $1.12.

GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) shares were down ahead of Black Friday. The video game retailer plans to open stores at 3pm on Thanksgiving and 6am on Black Friday. Doorbuster deals include a free $50 GameStop gift card with purchase of any new Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, or PS4 console. Select merchandise from popular brands like Five Nights at Freddy’s, Minecraft, Pokémon and Nintendo are 25% off.

Shares of GameStop were down around 4% to $12.51.

The Russell 2000 small-cap index was down around 1.6% Tuesday afternoon.
