Berkshire Hathaway’s 13-F filing reveals Warren Buffett added $4B stake in JPMorgan

Buffett’s company bought a new stake in JPMorgan and upped its investment in Apple

Berkshire Hathaway Inc’s (NYSE:BRK.A, NYSE:BRK.B) 13F filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission revealed just where Warren Buffett has been investing his billions.

Buffett’s Buys

The company upped its investment in Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), buying a total of 522,902 shares. Its total stake in the tech giant amounts to around US$59.994 million. Apple now comprises 25.7% of Berkshire’s tech portfolio. The Oracle of Omaha’s company also acquired 41.4 million shares of Oracle Corp (NASDAQ:ORC), bringing its investment stake to around US$2.1 billion as of September 30.

Berkshire Hathaway, already big on banking, acquired a new stake of 35.664 million shares of JPMorgan & Chase Co (NYSE:JPM), which was valued at US$4 billion as of September 30.

The company increased its stake in Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) to US$4.1 billion, adding about 5.1 million shares. Recent reports stated that Malaysia's finance minister has demanded a full refund of fees it paid to Goldman related to a failed investment fund.

Buffett’s bank-heavy buys also include about 6.08 million shares of The PNC Financial Services Group Inc (NYSE:PNC) as well as shares of Bank of America Corp (NYSE:BAC), US Bancorp (NYSE:USB-PO) and The Bank of New York Mellon Corp (NYSE:BK).

Shares of Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) and General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) were also among the buys, as well as Brazilian fintech Stoneco Ltd (NASDAQ:STNE).

Buffett’s Sells

The company sold all of its small holding in Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) and Sanofi (NYSE:SNY).

Buffett’s company also slashed its investments in several airlines, including American Airlines Group (NASDAQ:AAL), United Continental Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:UAL) and Southwest Airlines Co (NASDAQ:LUV).

Its position in Wells Fargo Inc (NYSE:WFC) was reduced by 9.6 million shares to around US$23.25 billion.

The company’s other sells include Phillips 66 (NYSE:PSX) and Charter Communications Inc (NASDAQ:CHTR). 

Berkshire’s Class A shares were down about 1% to US$323,700.06. Its Class B shares were also down about 1% to US$216.03.
