Short-seller Andrew Left 'believes' in Elon Musk and touts conversion to Tesla

Musk has been embroiled in controversy over a go-private plan in August

Short-seller Andrew Left said he turned from a bear on Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) into a bull because the company is notching large sales of its electric vehicles, but he confessed he would not be able to work with CEO Elon Musk.

"Once you cross out all your prejudices against the company and against Musk, it's different," Left said in an interview on CNBC.

For years, Left was short on Tesla before changing his mind about the company.

"I believe Musk right now. He doesn't need capital," Left added. "Forget about all the noise. How much are they selling?"

Musk was embroiled in controversy in early August when he unveiled a plan to take the company private and declared he had secured funding for the proposal.

That turned out to be not the case.

Musk was sued by the SEC before reaching a settlement where he was forced to give up being the chair of the company.

Left said Tesla is now "one of the most disruptive companies" and that it was "generating more margins" than many of its competitors.
