The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE:KO) has finally filled the role of chief operating officer with several other positions changing hands as well.
Brian Smith, who currently serves as president of Coca-Cola’s Europe, Middle East and Africa group, will take on the position in January, as per the company's press release.

The role has been left vacant since James Quincey was promoted to CEO last year.
In other C suite news, Chief Financial Officer Kathy Waller plans to retire by the end of the year. John Murphy, the president of Coca-Cola's Asia Pacific unit, will fill her seat.
Chief Technical Officer Ed Hays plans to retire in March with Nancy Quan stepping into his role.
Shares of the beverage giant were down slightly to $45.70 in Thursday afternoon trading.
