The hot summer weather failed to decrease the UK’s appetite for Greggs plc’s (LON:GRG) pasties and sausage rolls.
The high street bakery saw total sales jump 7.3% in the third quarter, with like-for-like sales at company-managed shops up 3.2%.
In the year to date, total sales are up 5.9% year-on-year, while like-for-likes have increased 2.1%.

Greggs’ new focaccia-style pizzas were popular over the summer months, as was the company’s drinks range – unsurprising given the prolonged period of warm weather.
The FTSE 250 group also reported continued growth in sales of its breakfast range.
“We were pleased with our trading performance during a period that included a long spell of hot weather, which made sales patterns more difficult to predict,” read Tuesday’s trading update.
“This, and the resulting mix of sales led to a lower-than-normal trading margin in the first part of the quarter, offset by improved trading as we came into September. Overall our expectations for the full year outturn remain unchanged.”
As for its expansion plans, they remain unchanged as well, with the company on track to add another 100 stores to its portfolio come the end of 2018.
Shares jumped 5.1% to 1,057p at the opening bell on Tuesday.
