Cygnus Gold Ltd (ASX:CY5) has defined 14 high-priority targets through a ground gravity survey at the Anomaly 47 prospect within its Burracoppin Project in Western Australia’s southwest.
The targets have a gravity signature similar to known polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) belts around the world.

Cygnus managing director James Merrillees said: “These exciting VMS targets emerging at Burracoppin validate our belief in the multi-commodity potential of the southwest, similar to elsewhere in the prolific Yilgarn of Western Australia.
“Although our focus to date has been on our gold targets, we will test high-priority, multi-commodity targets where we see potential for an economic discovery.”

A total of 4,142 data stations were acquired on three different station spacings over the broader Anomaly 47 target horizon.
After analysis of the data, 31 discrete positive gravity anomalies were identified, and of these, 14 fit Cygnus’ targeting criteria.
The company plans to fly an airborne electromagnetic (EM) survey over Burracoppin to delineate conductors associated with the gravity targets and mineralisation identified to date.
The 246-line-kilometre EM survey will begin next week and is expected to take 2-4 days to complete, with interpreted results expected around four weeks after flying is finished.

Burracoppin covers more than 80 kilometres of Archaean greenstone rocks along strike from the Edna May deposit owned by Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX:RMS).
The Anomaly 47 prospect was partially tested by previous explorers in the late 1980s with shallow reverse circulation drilling.
Six deeper holes for a total of 616 metres were drilled in 2006 which intersected broad zones of polymetallic mineralisation.
These intersections included: 93 metres at 4.19 g/t silver, 0.07 g/t gold, 0.12% lead and 0.1% zinc from 3 metres, including 5 metres at 26.03 g/t silver, 0.24% lead and 0.31% zinc from 91 metres; and 96 metres at 3.06 g/t silver, 0.05 g/t gold, 0.05% lead and 0.43% zinc from 7 metres.
Cygnus considers the Burracoppin Project highly-prospective for Archaean ‘orogenic’ lode gold-style mineralisation and will continue to target and test for this deposit style over the coming months.
