Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced on Monday plans to open its second large-scale facility called a fulfillment center in Stockton, California.
The new facility will create more than 1,000 full-time jobs with competitive hourly wages and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, 401(k) and company stock awards starting on day one, the company said in a statement.
Amazon has come under fire from US lawmakers who want to tax the company because some of its employees avail of public assistance.

Other Amazon fulfillment facilities are located in central and northern California are located in Fresno, Newark, Patterson, Sacramento, Tracy and Vacaville.
Amazon said it has created more than 39,000 jobs in California and since 2011 invested over US$19bn in the state, including infrastructure and compensation to its employees.
The biggest retailer in the world and the second US company to hit a US$1 trillion valuation, Amazon is based in Seattle, Washington.
