Hurricane Energy Plc (LON:HUR) told investors it has now completed all offshore installation works planned for the 2018 schedule, and the Lancaster early production system remains on-track for first oil in the first half of 2019.

The UK offshore oil field developer, in a statement, said that the installation of the subsea umbilical, risers and flowlines (or ‘SURF’) infrastructure had been successfully completed.

Now, the final activity in the current programme will involve protective rock dumping, expected to take place in October.

"I'm pleased to report successful completion of subsea installation, the final element of the installation campaign scheduled for the 2018 summer weather window,” said Dr Robert Trice, Hurricane chief executive.

“The required infrastructure is now in place for the Aoka Mizu FPSO to hook-up and commence commissioning upon arrival.

“I look forward to first oil in 1H 2019."

Hurricane highlighted that the system is now ready for the arrival of the Aoka Mizu floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, which is presently in Dubai following a period in dry-dock.

It is expected that the Aoka Mizu will shortly, before the end of this month, begin sea trials and will shortly thereafter ‘sail away’ to Lancaster, in the West of Shetland region of the UK continental shelf.

Next year’s field start-up at Lancaster will now dovetail with new exploration and appraisal activity, following last week’s farm-out deal with Spirit Energy, a company majority owned by Centrica.
