Kavango Resources appoints contractor for airborne survey of Kalahari Suture zone

A contract has been signed with a subsidiary of Geotech Airborne Geophysical Surveys of Canada to carry out an airborne electromagnetic survey

Botswana-focused Kavango Resources PLC (LON:KAV) said contractors have now been appointed to carry out the airborne geophysical survey over its Kalahari Suture Zone (KSZ) licences.

At present, Kavango holds 12 prospecting licences at KSZ covering 6,928 square kilometres, based on a major under-explored 450km long structural feature.

WATCH: Kavango Resources raises £1.5mln to advance Botswana projects

Roughly US$2.2mln has been spent on exploration of the area and Kavango plans to use knowledge gained from these efforts to formulate its own exploration programme.

Takashaya Murova, who has 15 years of varied exploration experience with the likes of SRK Consulting, Cluff Mining and Rio Tinto, has been appointed as exploration manager at the project.

"We believe the under-explored licence area has potential for the discovery of world-class base and precious metal deposits and we look forward to announcing further information with respect to the granting of all flying permits and our wider exploration programme in due course," said Michael Foster, the chief executive officer of Kavango.

Shares in Kavango were unchanged at 2.38p in late morning trading.
