Castillo Copper’s first batch of assays reveal 10.25% copper at Cangai

Extensive massive sulphide mineralisation has been intersected across most holes.

Castillo Copper Ltd (ASX:CCZ) has received assays from the first five drill holes of its 39-hole program at the Cangai Copper Mine in New South Wales.

Intersections include 11 metres at 5.94% copper, 2.45% zinc and 19.13 g/t silver from 40 metres including 1-metre grades of up to 10.25% copper, 6.04% zinc and 32.5 g/t silver.

The drill results confirm extensive massive sulphide mineralisation across the majority of holes completed.

Castillo’s chairman Peter Meagher said: “Assay results up to 10.25% copper, 6.04% zinc and 32.5 g/t silver from the first five drill-holes is extraordinary.

“The event clearly represents a demarcation point that materially distinguishes our Cangai Copper Mine project from numerous peers.

“Moving forward, the focus now is to leverage these outstanding results to extend the known mineralisation through commencing follow up DHEM surveys, which can optimise the remainder of the current drilling campaign.

“In addition, the board is looking forward to assay results from soil and rock-chip samples east of the line of lode, as they are likely [to] further extend the mineralised footprint.”

Strong credits for zinc-silver

The assay results highlight strong credits for zinc-silver, which supports the primary copper focus.

Furthermore, gold assays are still pending and the geology team expects them to be consistent with the high-grade nature of the deposit.

Overall, the results clearly highlight that Cangai is a high-grade deposit, with multiple base-metals prevalent within its mineralised footprint.
