Buds & duds: Cannabis stocks tumble after weeks of roller-coaster moves; Cronos Group down 28%

Cannabis stocks tumbled Thursday, most notably, Cronos Group, which dropped 28% after a US short-seller raised concerns the company may have withheld information

It was not a dope day for cannabis stocks, where shares tumbled after weeks of gains.

Cronos Group Inc (NASDAQ:CRON, TSE:CRON) shares tumbled a whopping -28.41%, down to $9.12.

Earlier this week, shares jumped on the back of news that the company had reached a number of supply deals in Canada. Today, shares plummeted after a US short-seller raised concerns that the company may have withheld information for investors.

Shares of some of the largest publicly traded marijuana companies also dropped.

Shares of Canopy Growth Corporation (NYSE:CGC) were down 4.14% at $44.48.

In Toronto, Aurora Cannabis Inc (TSE:ACB:CA) shares dropped 3.09% at C$8.79.

In Canada, CROP Infrastructure Corp (CSE:CROP) announced it is going to open two CBD retail outlets in Italy, prompting shares to rise 3.70% at C$0.28.

The North American Marijuana Index, a series of equally-weighted stock indices that track the leading cannabis stocks in the U.S. and Canada, reported that its North American Index was down 6.31% on Tuesday at $291.63.
