In pre-market trade today, salesforce.com.inc (NYSE:CRM), the cloud workforce management group, saw shares slip 3.26% to US$149.70.
It came as the tech group reported a rise in revenue in the latest three months but lowered its projected guidance for the current quarter.
Salesforce’s revenue for the three months to July 31 rose 27% compared to last year at US$3.28bn and earnings per share (EPS) was US$0.39.
For its current quarter the group is now forecasting earnings per share (EPS) of between US$0.01 and US$0.02 against consensus of US$0.06.
Meanwhile, Square Inc (NYSE;SQ) shares added over 4% before the New York bell after Guggenheim analyst Jeff Cantwell raised his target on the shares to US$100 from US$75 previously and said the firm was his new "best idea" in financial technology (fintech).
Elsewhere, Ciena Corp (NYSE:CIEN) shares surged 6.19% in pre-market deals to US$29 as the telecoms and software group reported third quarter numbers, which cheered the market.
Net income for the three months came in at US$0.34, while earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and stock option expense, came to US$0.48 per share.
This was better than Wall Street had expected. They had penciled in US$0.35 per share.

KFC is owned by Yum!Brands Inc (NYSE:YUM) , whose shares were unchanged at US$85.99.
In other news, IBM (NYSE:IBM) shares nudged up 12% before the bell.
The computer titan is reportedly bringing its AI-powered Watson platform to US Open tennis players to provide them with insight into past performances.
