MacPhersons Resources intersects high-grade gold at Boorara, updating geological model

The drilling is part of a resource development program to expand the project’s existing gold resource.

MacPhersons Resources Ltd (ASX:MRP) has intersected further high-grade gold in the final 15 reverse circulation (RC) holes drilled at its Boorara Gold Project near Kalgoorlie.

The drilling targeted the Northern Stockwork deposit and the results from the last 2,163 metres show notable gold mineralisation open along strike to the northwest.

Using the results from 17,000 metres of drilling, MacPhersons has begun an independent study to update the geological block model and potentially increase the overall resource grade.

MacPhersons managing director Jeff Williams said: “Prior to the recent 17,000 metres of RC drilling, the JORC 2012 compliant resource estimate at Boorara consisted of 16.45 million tonnes grading about 1 g/t (mostly measured and indicated) for 507,000 ounces at a cut-off gold grade of 0.5 g/t.

“In addition, MacPhersons gold recoveries from a coarse grind of 80% of product passing 180 microns averaged 88-92% gold for the deposit.

“The goal of the independent updated geological block model is to raise the gold grade above 1 g/t as well as increasing confidence in the resource.”

Visible gold at 43 g/t

Results from the most north-western hole showed mineralisation extending to the north, hitting intercepts of: 8 metres at 1.67 g/t gold, including 1 metre at 6.81 g/t; and 12 metres at 1.26 g/t.

Other highlighted RC hole intercepts include: 5 metres at 2.5 g/t gold, including 1 metre at 10.5 g/t; 7 metres at 1.77 g/t; 1 metre at 19.75 g/t; and 8 metres at 1.67 g/t.

Most notably, visible gold was intercepted in a hole of 1 metre grading at 43 g/t gold, within an assay of 5 metres at 9.57 g/t.

Work is now focused on building the updated block model, as well as evaluating opportunities to increase Boorara’s overall grade.

A review of geochemistry information and results from drilling north of the Northern Stockwork deposit has identified targets to the north requiring drill-testing.

Along with the drilling program, MacPhersons has several ongoing studies that will contribute to Boorara’s definitive feasibility study, including metallurgical test work and geotechnical studies.
