Europa Metals mobilises drill rig ahead of resource extension campaign at Toral

The metals miner said phase one of the drill campaign would seek to ascertain whether a mineralised structure at the project continued outside the current resource area

Europa Metals Limited (LON:EUZ) has mobilised a drilling rig at its Toral project in northern Spain as it prepares to begin a campaign to evaluate the potential extension of a mineral structure.

The AIM-listed metals miner said phase one of the drill campaign would involve drilling to ascertain whether a mineralised structure at the project continued outside the current defined JORC (2012) resource area which had already been established for the Toral project area.

The company said that with “a significant inferred resource estimate” already established at the project, the extension drilling would seek to identify the presence of more mineralisation.

Following the extension drilling Europa said it would then concentrate on drilling within the upper zone of the JORC (2012) resource area before moving to phase two of the programme which would target key areas within the high grade zone of the inferred resource in order to increase resource confidence levels.

Europa added that its geological team has also relogged “all priority intersections” from a historical drill core stored at the National Litoteca in Andalucia, which it said would enhance the company’s understanding of the host structure at the project.

Myles Campion, the executive & technical director of Europa, said the first phase of the drilling programme would be “highly focused” on establishing the presence of the hosting structure and “possible further mineralisation” outside of the main Toral project areas, adding that a further campaign would be initiated to “add value to [Europa’s] ongoing scoping study work by drilling within the known resource envelope”.

Europa said the scoping study, announced on 19 June, remained on scheduled and within budget.
