A number of stocks made significant moves on Wednesday, including specialty-retailer Williams-Sonoma Inc (NYSE:WSM), which jumped double-digits after topping Wall Street estimates in its second-quarter results.
The company reported earnings of US$0.77 per share on revenue of US$1.27bn, surpassing analyst estimates of US$0.61 EPS on revenue of US$1.20bn. Its brand portfolio includes its namesake brand as well as home furnishing brands Pottery Barn and West Elm.
Shares of the California-based company were up nearly 10% to US$68.60 in Wednesday after-hours trading.

Elsewhere, in late market movers, Stein Mart Inc (NASDAQ:SMRT) tumbled in post-market trade on Wednesday after reporting a loss on earnings and a steady quarterly sales performance. The company says it expects an operating profit in the second half of the year.
Shares of the company slumped almost 14.5% to trade at US$2.60.

In Canada, shares of precious metals explorer Great Bear Resources (CVE:GBR) saw shares boost an eye-popping 77.7%, after it announced a new high-grade gold discovery from its Dixie gold project in Ontario’s Red Lake district. The first reported drill hole intersected 26.9 grams gold per tonne over 16.4 metres.
Shares of Eastwood Bio Medical Canada Inc (CVE:EBM) dropped 8.37% at C$2.30 on Wednesday.
