First assays from holes at Fireweed Zinc's (CVE:FWZ) Macmillan Pass zinc project in the Yukon are expected in the coming weeks, the company said, updating on exploration.
Of 16 holes completed so far, 11 are stepout and infill ones on the southern and northern extensions of the Tom West zone.
The next holes using two drills will test targets at the Jason South zone and the End zone and area.
Fieldwork began in early June, with geophysical surveying and geochemical sampling orientation grids in the Tom, Jason and End zone areas.
Results so far of gravity, geochemistry and geological work have defined at least two new high-priority targets and there is potential for further discoveries.
"We started the season with stepout drilling to expand some of the known zones at Tom West and Tom East," said Brandon Macdonald, chief executive.
"We are finishing the season with drilling of the high-grade Jason South zone and the nascent SEDEX system at End zone.
"Meanwhile our field crews carried out geophysical, geochemical and geological work in search of new discovery targets.
"We took an efficient and cost-effective approach, and I am pleased they were successful in defining at least two high-priority drill targets so far."
