Sound Energy completes seismic programme, selects TE-10 well location

The explorer continues to build its understanding of its lead projects in Eastern Morocco where the next phase promises further 'high impact' possibilities

Sound Energy PLC (LON:SOU) told investors it has now completed its seismic data acquisition programme in eastern Morocco.

The company said in a statement that it had captured data covering some 2,850 line kilometres and that the programme was delivered on budget and with zero lost time incidents.

“The acquisition of the new seismic coupled with basin modelling has enabled the company to increase its understanding of the TAGI structural play, the deeper Palaeozoic potential and the hydrocarbon charge model,” Sound said.

Sound also revealed that it has now selected the location for the TE-10 well, which is going to be the second new well in the drilling schedule, after TE-9.

TE-10 is seen as a high-impact test of the TAGI structural-stratigraphic play which has some 2.6 trillion cubic feet of potential, in the mid-case. The well will also assess the underlying Palaeozoic at the TE-10 location.

Last week, Sound announced that mobilisation had begun for its first new well for the Tendrara project area in Morocco.

It said that the National 110 IE (1500HP) land drilling rig owned by Saipem is now on its way to the location of the TE-9 well pad, which is currently under construction. The National 110 IE was used for all the company's previous wells in Morocco and is earmarked for all the upcoming wells (TE-9, TE-10 and TE-11).
