Seeing Machines Limited (LON:SEE) has arranged and completed a workshop aimed at improving the training of pilots in the aviation industry, with three aircraft operators at the event recognising the need for eye-tracking technology.

The AIM-listed firm, which develops technology to help monitor the awareness of vehicle operators, said that it had been working in partnership with the three aircraft operators, Emirates, Qantas Airways, and FedEX Express, who attended the two-day workshop in Dubai to explore the use and benefits of eye-tracking technology in pilot training and performance monitoring.

The workshop had also examined how an eye-tracking product for pilot training would specifically support and optimise flight training through all phases, including use in both part-task trainers and full flight simulators.

Patrick Nolan, general manager of aviation at Seeing Machines, said having “key industry leaders” at the workshop had demonstrated a commitment within the aviation industry to “adopt technology that will enhance safety and support critical training requirements in their organisations and across the sector”.

He added that the feedback from the aviation specialists at the different carriers would be fed into product development.

In mid-morning trading, Seeing Machines' shares were 0.5% higher at 10.55p.
