Small-Cap Snapshot: ATM provider Cardtronics tops estimates in its second-quarter results

The company beat estimates despite losing a major customer when 7-Eleven declined to renew its agreement

Cardtronics plc (NASDAQ:CATM) was a top gainer following better-than-expected second-quarter results. The ATM provider reported adjusted earnings of US$0.61 on revenue of US$341mln, above analyst estimates of adjusted earnings of US$0.39 per share on revenue of US$324mln. The company beat Wall Street consensus despite having its non-bank ATMs removed from 7-Eleven stores in the US. It currently operates around 230,000 ATMs in 10 countries, according to the company.

Shares of the Houston-based company were up nearly 20% to US$28.74 in Friday morning trading.

Universal Electronics Inc (NASDAQ:UEIC) shares jumped double-digits after positive results. The consumer electronics company reported earnings of US$0.38 per share, in-line with analyst estimates. Its revenue came in at US$162.52mln, slightly below consensus estimates of US$162.12mln.

Shares of the California-based company were up more than 25% to US$45.25.

Immersion Corporation (NASDAQ:IMMR) shares were down after seeing a loss and declining revenues in its second quarter. The touch feedback tech company reported a net loss of US$0.25 per share on revenue of US$6.1mln, below analyst estimates of a net loss of US$0.14 per share on revenue of US$9.6mln. The company recently reached an agreement in its patent infringement case with wearables company Fitbit Inc (NYSE:FIT).

Shares of the software company were down more than 20% to US$10.99.

Drive Shack Inc (NYSE:DS) shares fell after disappointing second-quarter results. The golf property company reported a net loss of US$0.09 per share, below analyst expectations of a net loss of US$0.04. The company runs a chain of namesake entertainment golf venues and operates other golf properties.

Shares of the New York-based company were down nearly 15% to US$5.53.

The Russell 2000 small-cap index was down around 0.5% in Friday morning trading.
