PRE-MARKET MOVERS: Tripadvisor shares travel lower after earnings miss, but glucose monitoring group Dexcom sweetens up

Also in the frame before the New York bell was Wayfair Inc and Kroger Co.

Global shares are not wanted today as trade fears dominate sentiment and on the corporate front, before the bell, several stocks are piquing interest.

Among them, Tripadvisor Inc (NASDAQ:TRIP), which saw shares sink over 13% to US$50 in pre-market deals, as the travel website missed estimates on revenue.

The figure for the firm's second quarter came in US$1.92mln lower than estimates at US$433mln, but that was still up 2% on the same period last year.

From one e-commerce group to another, Wayfair Inc (NYSE:W) shares dropped 6.35% to US$101.06 before the bell.

The home goods firm saw shares slide despite it saying it was a record second quarter and the largest yet year-over-year dollar growth in direct retail net revenue.

Gross profit came in at US$385mln or 23.3% of total net revenue, while the GAAP net loss was US$100.7mln.

Kroger Co (NYSE:KR), which was in focus yesterday, was back in the frame on Thursday, and its shares slid 0.31% to stand at US$28.60 before the New York bell.

Yesterday, it emerged that the US's largest supermarket was threatening to ban the use of Visa cards in a dispute over so-called 'swipe' fees.

Today, reportedly, it may extend the ban on Visa credit cards to more stores. It will soon stop accepting them at Foods Co. stores in California.

The latter says 21 supermarkets and five gas stations in California will no longer accept the credit cards starting August 14. Visa Inc (NYSE:V) shares shed 0.54% to US$137.50.

Lastly, in pre-market deals, glucose monitoring for diabetics giant Dexcom Inc (NASDAQ:DXCM) had its shares race up over 23% in pre-market to US$117.99

The San Diego-based firm reported net income of US$0.34 for its second quarter. The loss, adjusted for investment gains, came to US$0.10 per share, which beat consensus estimates for a loss of US$0.20 per share.

The MedTech group also posted revenue of US$242.5mln, which also beat Wall Street forecasts.
